OUR TECHNOLOGY THEMES
Industrial Emissions Reduction
Accelerating development and deployment
Reducing emissions from high carbon emitting industries is fundamental if the UK is to meet net zero targets. The oil and gas sector must reduce its emissions by at least 3.4 gigatons of carbon-dioxide equivalent (GtCO2e) a year by 2050. This is a 90 percent reduction in current emissions that future and emerging technologies will help achieve.
We’re progressing emissions reduction technologies that enable:
- Remotely operated assets
- Reduction of C02 emissions for drilling operations
- Reduction of emissions of reservoir development
- Repurposing of offshore infrastructure
- Sustainable decommissioning
- Platform electrification from the shore and offshore wind
- Methane leak detection
- Eliminate major incidents and reduce the amount of fugitive emissions
- Mitigation of venting/flaring
- Reduction of field development, logistics and decommissioning carbon footprints
