National Unicorn Day | Enterpreneurial Ecosystem Round Table
Stakeholders from the North East entrepreneurial ecosystem are invited to a round table breakfast as part of National Unicorn Day. We all have a shared ambition to support entrepreneurs in the region grow and succeed. We want the founders we support to become global leaders, but what is the best way to do that?
Startup Grind Aberdeen invites universities, enterprise agencies, accelerators, support organisations to a session where we will hear from Mark Bjornsgaard, CEO and Founder of System Two, a venture capital firm that invests in, and partners with, leading corporations and entrepreneurs across Europe and the US.
Mark will share his insight from scaling and selling mutliple businesses and the concepts explored in his book – The Idea Drug – which comes out later this year that explores how to innovate using the scientific method and increase your odds of building a breakthrough business.
The event is also a chance for the ecosystem to visit one of Aberdeen’s newest facilities for founders – ETZ Energy Works – an incubator space for energy startups located in the Energy Transition Zone.

About the Speaker
Mark has grown numerous businesses from scratch to scale, with seven exits so far. He has raised 100s of millions of dollars for 10+ businesses in various sectors, including health care, technology, and energy. His most recent role was as CEO of Deep Green Technologies, now an Octopus Energy Generation company, which he founded in 2016.
Deep Green build and operate heat reuse data centres, co-locating Tier 3 facilities inside the physical footprint of district heating systems and other industries. His current portfolio includes Lifted (sold to British Gas), Civo, Alligator (sold to GSK), Secret Source (sold to Evolve), Caldera, Ctr Alt, Heatio and Optect amongst others.
