Technology Without Borders

We’re breaking down barriers with our ‘Technology Without Borders’ initiative, facilitating technology transfer, modification and local adaptation to enable sustainable growth for countries in the global south.

Be part of the net zero technology transformation. We are calling for international financial, industrial and technology partners to join our global north south initiative, co-developing technology for an equitable transition.

Thirty five percent of global emissions will need to be addressed using emerging and future technologies.

The energy transition technologies that already exist need to rapidly scale up, with a focus on reducing costs and increasing efficiencies.

This poses an acute challenge for countries in the Global South, where today energy supply often can’t keep up with demand, access to electricity is frequently limited and often unaffordable and where population growth is amongst the fastest in the world.

Technology Without Borders represents a new approach, an alternative model for a coordinated and targeted global partnership program to bridge the net zero energy technology gap between the Global North and South.  The delivery model, an industry-led Global Technology Hub, is based on NZTC’s proven successes and will unlock investment opportunities from international public funding and the private sector.

Objectives:

Technology transfer, adaptation, diffusion, scale up and continuing innovation by local supply chains.

Build critical mass of local expertise and strengthen local supply chain businesses.

Facilitate the unlocking of international investment, and its matching with local industry contribution.

Promote economic development opportunities through the energy transition.

The programme will define, plan, and co-deliver projects in the areas of:

  • Infrastructure planning and optimisation
  • Renewable energy
  • Hydrogen production and storage
  • Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCUS)
  • Digital transformation
  • Capacity building
