Peter Mather announced as Chair of NZTC

The Net Zero Technology Centre has announced the appointment of Peter Mather as its new Chair, promoting him from his previous role as a Senior Independent Director on NZTC’s Board which he has held since April 2022. He will succeed Martin Gilbert who joined as Chair of the NZTC Board in June 2020.

NZTC was created as part of the Aberdeen City Region Deal, with £180 million of UK and Scottish government funding. Since its inception in 2017, the Centre has co-invested more than £253 million with industry in technology, screened over 2,170+ new technologies, seen over 35 technologies commercialised, and supported 57 tech start-ups.

In 2022 the Centre launched its Net Zero Technology Services offering, providing the energy industry and investors with insights and foresight on current and emerging net zero technologies, helping organisations leverage technology to navigate and accelerate their journey to net zero.

Welcoming the appointment, CEO Myrtle Dawes, said: “Peter has served on our Board as a Senior Independent Director for over a year, during which time he has made a significant contribution, helping shape our overall strategic direction. He understands the business and our mission.
