NZTC joins partners to mark opening of ETZ EnergyWorks

05 October 2026

The Net Zero Technology Centre (NZTC) joined partners to mark the official opening of ETZ EnergyWorks by His Majesty King Charles III, celebrating a significant milestone for energy innovation in North East Scotland.

NZTC is a delivery partner for EnergyWorks and has contributed to the development of the facility over the past few years. During its development, startups from NZTC’s TechX community shared their views on the resources and support needed to develop hard-tech energy innovations, helping to shape the design of the facility.

EnergyWorks now provides a focal point for energy entrepreneurship in the region, giving startups access to dedicated space, support and, most importantly, a community of like-minded innovators. Companies from the TechX accelerator have already taken up space, with more expected to follow.

Myrtle Dawes OBE, CEO of the Net Zero Technology Centre, said:

“It was a pleasure to join partners for the official opening of ETZ EnergyWorks by His Majesty The King and to celebrate such a significant milestone for the North East of Scotland’s energy transition journey.

“At NZTC, our objective, particularly through our TechX startup accelerator, is to incubate and accelerate new energy technologies, making EnergyWorks directly aligned with our ambitions.

“We know that hard-tech energy innovation requires different expertise, dedicated facilities and technical support than is commonly available. When the concept for EnergyWorks was being developed, our TechX startup community shared what resources they would need, and that input helped shape the facility we see today.

“It is fantastic to see EnergyWorks now serving as a focal point for energy entrepreneurship in the region, with startups from our TechX accelerator already taking up space and more in the pipeline.

NZTC’s TechX team will continue to work with businesses based at EnergyWorks, bringing networks and content from its startup programmes into the facility. Its next Accelerator programme will also be delivered from the site.
