Technology Centre shortlisted for MER UK Award

20 September 2017
We are delighted that our Asset Integrity Solution Centre and its members have been jointly shortlisted with Total E&P UK for the 2017 MER UK Award.

In June 2017, a series of asset integrity field trials commenced on Total platforms in the North Sea. The attitude of the Solution Centre members to sharing information and being willing to take risks on new technology, combined with the support of the Technology Centre in expediting the trials, have made progress much quicker than it otherwise would have been. The trials aim to demonstrate new and feasible ways of reducing confined space entries, reduce OPEX and contribute to MER UK.

Total joined the Technology Centre’s Asset Integrity and Well Construction Solution Centre’s as a member in February 2017. The Asset Integrity Solution Centre aims to eliminate the impact of asset integrity on operational uptime by 2026.

This award recognises those companies whose cooperative approach and positive behaviours have helped to maximise the economic recovery of oil and gas from the UKCS. The winner will have demonstrated strong leadership in pioneering successful new ways of working that can be shared and adopted across the industry. The Award winner will be announced at the Oil & Gas UK Awards on 2 November.

The finalists for the 2017 MER UK Award are:

  • Bruce Field – BP collaboration with Baker Hughes, a GE company
  • Commercial Behaviours Workgroup
  • Accelerating Technology -Total/OGTC AI Solution Centre members
  • Callater Field – Apache
