MN4-KM5 “Xclude” Field Trials

Project Summary

The primary aim of the project is to validate Xclude as a low-cost alternative to cement and other alternative barrier methods. Xclude is a water-based, chemical system which creates calcium sulfate scale in a controlled reaction. Three components are diluted with water, mixed, and immediately pumped into the well. As the scale precipitates within the formation, the pore throats of the rock become blocked and reducing permeability.
