NZTTP – Data for Net Zero
Project Summary
The Data for Net Zero project aims to undertake R&D that will deliver the world’s first Smart Energy Basin. Utilising an integrated suite of data science, visualisation and modelling tools, the Smart Energy Basin is a digital copy of the entire energy basin that will be utilised to accelerate a range of cross-sectoral decision-making approaches for energy integration and the transition to a net zero energy system by 2045. Initially it will focus on a discrete group of offshore energy assets that share both geographic proximity and operational connectivity, either a cluster of assets East of Shetland or in the Southern North Sea before seeking to widen the approach across the basin.
An initial six (6) synergistic industry-led research work packages will be undertaken over a period of 3 years as follows:
– Infrastructure reuse and repurposing
– Decision making in late life and decommissioning
– Decarbonising decommissioning
– Energy Hub body of knowledge
– UKCS Offshore Workforce Portal
– Floating Offshore Wind (FOW)/ Fisheries Spatial Data Portal
OUTCOMES
– Unlock barriers to data sharing
– Demonstrate an integrated energy basin approach
– Enable innovation and anchor the supply chain
– Demonstrate the opportunities for new collaborative ways of working
– Drive thought leadership
– Facilitate knowledge & skills transfer across sectors
