Repsol Field Trial Urethane Conductor Restraint
Project Summary
Lateral wave movement causes impact on conductors, caissons and risers initiating fatigue and fracturing which can be both costly, challenging and dangerous. To reduce conductor movement within guides and minimise damage various shim solutions have been developed to varying degrees of success. Many involving significant costs.
AquaTerra have developed a solution to improve on these established techniques which will not only reduce the wave induced damage but increase the guide stability and moderate the vibrations to extend the life of the conductors, caissons, associated piping systems and structure with minimal maintenance.
This project is now in Phase 2 and will undergo two field trials with major Operators. This project being the second.
OUTCOMES
A typical shim programme on average costs approx. £50k per conductor by introducing this innovative solution would results in a cost saving of 80% due to the material type, ease of installation and the reduction in preparation and deployment.
