Visual Inspection – Step Change

Project Summary

The project aims to develop a solution which allows the ability to automatically ascertain the fabric condition of an entire facility remotely, through innovative Auto-Visual inspection techniques.

OUTCOMES

The benefits of optimised manning and remote operations technology are well known to industry and with the backdrop of a challenging economic environment and net zero commitments, there is a renewed focus to change how brownfield assets are operated in the UKCS.
As such, there has been significant interest in this project across the industry with major operator partners (Repsol Sinopec, Serica Energy, Anasuria Operating Company, Dana Petroleum, Harbour Energy, TAQA) signalling their interest in tackling this challenge as a consortium.

GDi Inspection will transform the inspection process by eliminating the need for traditional reporting methods and providing the ability to accurately assess the condition of hazardous or inaccessible locations using the automated defect detection software. It has the potential to save an operator up to £521K per asset, per year.
