A methodology for assessing a pipelines fitness for change of use

The UK has over 1000 oil and gas pipelines measuring over 45,000 kilometers that could potentially be repurposed to transport hydrogen and CO2.  There is a need to establish an accepted methodology for assessing the suitability of a particular pipeline for both a change of use, and life extension.

This report describes the two part technical integrity assessment which determines the operational life of a pipeline using degradation mechanisms and the economics of inspection, repair and refurbishment. Learn how to apply the methodology to any pipeline and access its suitability for reuse as we transition to a net zero energy system.
