Best practices for the introduction of new technologies: Investigating the psychological dimension

Technology has been the foundation of the oil and gas industry and will become fundamental to success as the energy industry transitions to a net zero future and renewable energy sources.

Despite industry efforts to increase innovation activities, and a need to accelerate innovation, there appears to be a resistance to adopt new technology. The psychological dimension that significantly influences technology adoption shouldn’t be underestimated.

Factors such as attitudes, trust, motivations, and risk perception play a key role in technology adoption. In addition, organisational culture can impact how people respond to and introduce technology into their organisation.

Read about the eight categories identified that influence innovation adoption culture and how you can start to facilitate technology uptake in your organisation.
