Integrity management – well integrity
A total of 5,321 Well Integrity issues have been reported in 2020 across 1178 wellbores. The largest reported issue with operating/shut in wells is annular and downhole valve issues.
It’s imperative for the prevention of fugitive emissions, optimised recovery, and reduction in significant workover scope, that new technologies to address integrity issues are developed, qualified and commercialised.
This will be an enabler in meeting our Net Zero 2050 goals alongside ensuring necessary production from existing wells to meet the energy transition.
As part of the funding competition, we aimed to look for innovative ideas and technologies that will optimise well management through automation and minimise intervention requirements to maximise production efficiency and economic recovery
